Trauma bonding, is a strong emotional attachment between an abused person and his or her abuser formed as a result of ongoing cycles of abuse in which intermittent reinforcement of reward and punishment creates a powerful emotional bond that is resistant to change.
Here I have attached a well summarized piece on trauma bonding by Dimplepunjabi
There is a fine line between trauma bond and unconditional love. For unconditional love is known as affection without conditions or limitation. We humans are not equipped to give unconditional love, as when a person in your life becomes a threat to your life, happiness or mental health, it is advised to let that relationship go.
As a Christian I was taught that;
Love is kind, Love is patient
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud
It does not dishonor others, it is not self seeking
It is not easily angered, It keeps no records of wrong
Love does not delight in evil but rejoice with the truth
It always protect, always trust, always hopes, always preserves.
1corinthians13:4-7. NIV (new international version)
Always remember, a relationship should be both ways, this does not only apply to a romantic relationship, it has to do with all relationships between family members, friends, fellowships, people at your workplace, school e.t.c.
Moreover, if you are the abuser get help and always remember the golden rule. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
