Hello,
I know , I know!
I know what you might be thinking, this one has come to drop something to disappear again. My apologies to my subscribed and unsubscribed readers. Indeed I might disappear again but , let me gist you !
So I made soap!
Liquid soap to be precise.
Why will you make soap that_idoma_geh? It’s one of those random thoughts that pops into your head once in a while and I decided to bring that thought to life .
Scrolling through Instagram, I noticed quite a number of soap vendors and I told myself if they are this many it should be easy to make.
Then I marched to the university of YouTube, watched a few videos and graduated. I must say it is the shortest course I have ever taken.
I jotted down the ingredient, let’s say raw materials and choose a video that was the simplest to me . She made liquid soap making into 7steps.
So, I went to the market, asked around for “chemical shop” because that’s what I heard them calling it and I was directed to one. I gave him my list and waited…
The salesman was kind enough to label every chemical he sold to me as I wasn’t conversant with them …
Long and short of the story is that I made the soap, it was fun but I learnt a few things . {I am not an expert , so I won’t be posting a step by step of soap making}
🦋Lesson 1: Be prepared and allow yourself make mistakes. No matter how prepared you are about whatever it is, mistakes will be made and how you move forward determines the outcome.
So, I have my list and everything. Any seasoned soap maker can see my mistake from this picture, that bowl was too small, giving I wanted to make just a little quantity , it was still too small..
🦋Lesson 2: You will always have to find out about certain things on your own regardless of the handouts or instructions.
So, my lecturer from YouTube didn’t notify in her video that nitrosol can get clumpy! “All I remembered at this point was her emphasis on make sure you are turning it, turn it o” I didn’t turn it “well well” but not to worry this didn’t scare me why? Any Nigerian child that learnt how to make semo is conversant with this dilemma …
🦋Lesson3: Breathe…. Literally, when life chokes you , go outside and breathe. Take a step away from the chaos and let fresh air wash over you .
Remember lesson 2? It’s still relevant here because what my teacher didn’t also mention is that you need to make this soap in an open space, some of the chemicals react and produce fumes that can be choking. So therefore , I learnt by experience to move my bowl outside from the kitchen and breathe. I was almost choking.
🦋Lesson4 : It’s ok to expand, grow out of things. You are permitted to want better, outgrow situations, people, jobs. It’s ok to move on.
I moved my almost soap to a bigger basin to make the mixing easier and I must say, I should have started with this container but there is no room to regret and wallow in mistakes. Move on!
You can see my soap forming yeah…
Lesson5: Focus on the end goal, enjoy the process and keep valuable lessons for future purposes . Do not permit yourself to suffer a mistake twice. It’s ok to make mistakes again but try to learn from them and put your lessons to go use .
🦋Lesson6: There is always a way out. There is a solution if you look for it.
In the end I made my soap. I had to strain it to remove the large clumps from my first mistake but I had my liquid soap.
As the year comes to an end, my dear blog readers, it’s not to late to learn something new or try something new.
Now, that I can make soap, maybe you can now call me an entrepreneur?
Live life, enjoy it!
🦋🦋❤️✨.
