Change they say is the only constant thing in life . Habits are routines or things done continuously which tend to occur over time subconsciously.

We have all formed certain habits intentionally or not . Some good and productive, others not so much . And sometimes these habits have a negative impact on us or affect others negatively.

In this light ,today I will share a habit I am trying to change . Teeth grinding 🙈, also known as Bruxism.

Teeth grinding they say is related to stress or anxiety but I don’t think that applies to me as I do mine in my sleep.

Maybe that why I wake up tired 😓

Over time this can lead to wearing out of the teeth, pain and headaches but the most terrifying consequence I think is the jaw joint displacement.

My right jaw joint known as the temperomandibular Joint got displaced and locked. It wasn’t funny 😣. I couldn’t chew properly , or speak or even yawn without pain.

So I went to the dentist.

Prestige dental clinic, it’s environment is clean and calming , prices are fair and the staffs are professional and friendly.

I got to meet a kind and patient maxillofacial specialist, who examined me and told me everything was a result of my teeth grinding 🤦🏽‍♀️.

Was a little bit nervous but color me weird that chair is kinda comfortable:

He referred me to an orthodontist to confirm his theory and the orthodontist confirmed it.

Therefore, the only treatment for my present condition is to stop teeth grinding and then I do some facial exercises to lubricate the joint twice a day for thirty minutes .

This I have to do before my next dental appointment.

Sounds easy right . Just stop doing it . But funny how uneasy 😬 it is . I read about the 21/90 rule “ it’s takes 21 days to form a habit and 90days to keep it permanent” I don’t know who came up with this or it’s origin but I think it’s something I have to try .

MY DILEMMA , How do I change a habit that I am not even conscious about 🤦🏽‍♀️. How do I change a habit that occurs during sleep time . If you have an idea or advice do comment below .

To me ,for now I hold on to the verse 💕I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me 💕. “Philippians 4:13”.

Finally I say . Hold on to your faith and ask for help when you cannot do it on your own . Sometimes all we need is help and encouragement from our loved ones.

Speaking of encouragement, My family and friends, also church members ,called to check up on me which made me feel good and happy .

To make me feel better after my last dental appointment my friend took me out for coffee . It didn’t stop the pain but it made me feel better that someone cares.
